R2 Blackhat Jewelry was founded in 2015 by Robert Blackhat Jr., a Full-Blooded Navajo from Northern Arizona. Drawing from both tradition and innovation, Robert blends modern silversmithing techniques with contemporary design to create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
A third-generation silversmith, Robert began learning the craft at the age of eight under the guidance of his mother. However, following her passing just two years later, he stepped away from silversmithing for many years. In 2015, he rekindled his passion for the art form, driven by a desire to honor his mother’s legacy and share her teachings with the next generation—including his children, nieces, and nephew. With renewed dedication and growing confidence in his craft, Robert launched R2 Blackhat Jewelry as a tribute to his heritage and family tradition.
